Hi All,

What did you think of the books you read in July?
A's = 8
B's = 2
C's = 1
D's = 1

1. How many books did you read? -12 - most of them were audible and/or Library books. Of the 12, two were BOT re-reads doing yardwork, one was a re-read while sorting books to see which ones to donate to Library.

2. What genres come to the fore? - Mainstream Suspense Thrillers

3. What was your favorite book of the month? -
I Am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes (6/14)
[Code Name: Pilgrim - 1] (A N/A) - 2014 Debut Author
CIA - Espionage - Forensics - International Thriller - Smallpox - Terrorism
New things I've never read before, made it fun.

4. What was the worst book you read this month? -
Cop Town by Karin Slaughter (6/14)
(D- Violent - Dismal - Disturbing - Depressing)

1974 - Atlanta PD - I didn't like any of the characters.
The story did not connect with me but it has with others, so read it and decide for yourself.

5. Who was your favorite book boyfriend in June? - Agent Pendergast in the Helen Trilogy of his ongoing Pendergast series by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. His focus was strong and heartbreaking with the new revelations to his life.

1. Fever Dream (5/10) [AP - 10] (A- N/A)
2. Cold Vengeance (5/11) [AP - 11] (A- N/A)
3. Two Graves (12/12) [AP - 12] (A- N/A)

6. Were there any characters you didn't care for? - It wasn't that I didn't care for Dr. Nadine Lavoie, but it disturbed me that she didn't recuse herself from Heather's case when she realized there was even a possible conflict of interest. Once the name of the cult came up she was distracted in the work with Heather. I lost confidence in her judgment.

Always Watching by Chevy Stevens (6/13)
(C Implied Sex Present Day ~ Violent Child Rape)

Psychological Suspense
Predictable once the Cult plot was introduced.
Themes:
Cult - Suicide - Murder - Repressed Memories
Violence Against Children
Violence Against Women
Violence Against Animals

7. Who was your favorite villain? - Just about broke my heart when this was confirmed (I guessed early on), not saying who here. :)

All Day and a Night (6/14) by Alafair Burke
[Ellie Hatcher, NYPD - 5] (B N/A)

Themes:
PD - Celebrity Lawyer - Serial Killer Verdict Overturned - Cover says Suspense
All Day and a Night is prison speak for Life Without Parole.

8. Who was your favorite heroine (kick-ass or not) this month? - Catrin Mattsson, detective in the Sheriff's office.

Field of Prey by John Sandford (5/14)
[Lucas Davenport - 24] (A Violent Rape)
PD - Serial Killer Thriller

I was conflicted on the rating. Some parts were more a B but there was a lot of action with regular characters that pulled me in the A range.

I didn't track my reading this month but I do know it is down and have read a lot of forgettable books.

Most of my reading time I have been trying to organize my kindle under collections. So far I have six screens.

LOL. You sound like me when I organized my kindle under collections. I did it by author (Author A-B, Author C-D) and by Genre. Then I would file the book under both author and genre in hiopes that I will eventually find it when I want to read it.

Historical

3. What was your favorite book of the month?
I have more than one:
Swept Away- Toni Blake
I Only Have Eyes For You- Bella Andre
Seduction of a Highland Lass- Maya Banks
Devil in Winter-Lisa Kleypas

4. What was the worst book you read this month?
These weren't terrible, I just wouldn't read these authors again or put them on my keeper shelf:
Sinful Pleasures- Mary Reed McCall
A Seal's Surrender- Tawny Weber
Undeniable Rogue- Annette Blair

5. Who was your favorite book boyfriend in July?
It has to be between Alaric from Seduction of a Highland Lass and Brock from Swept Away. Oh and I did love Sebastian from Devil in Winter.

I didn't like Ophelia from The Heir by Johanna Lindsey. She was a secondary character in it.

Sebastian from Devil in Winter. He may have been the hero in his book, but he's a reformed villain.

8. Who was your favorite heroine (kick-ass or not) this month?
Evie from Devil in Winter.
