How does the holiday season affect your reading habits? Here's a poll for you! I've never done a poll before, so hope this will be just a bit of fun. :D

Year to year I read about the same. Some years I read more, some less. December is normally a hectic month at work, but if I get all my Christmas shopping done before Thanksgiving - like I did this year - I have more time to read.

For example, last year I was behind and read only 4 books in November and 6 books in December. This year I read 16 books in November and so far have read 14 books this month. (2012 total was 163, 2013 will be near 175.)

The holidays have no effect on my reading. Since I'm not working ---- no more stress!!!!!!!

The only thing my husband and I have planned this Christmas is dinner out on December 25. Neither of us has family in the town where we live so it will be just us and the dog. We prefer things quiet and relaxed so that leaves lots of time for reading.

Hi All,

I voted #4 but my holiday reading time has declined every year since 2007 (the only spiral I have handy).

2007 - 2013 December Reading Totals

2007: 25
2008: 18
2009: 18
2010: 10
2011: 11
2012: 12
2013: Zero, as of 12-18-13

I read whenever I get the chance, but it seems I have so much to do, I feel guilty if I take a moment to read--I can't even concentrate!! I just finished my first book of December--it took forever, but it was a good book.

I used to like the Christmas themed anthologies (mostly regencies, but any will do) but did not see many, if any, this year.

Maybe I'll dig up some old ones and read those.

I voted for number 4 (I read when I get the chance).

I have to make time to read. It's a need or I can't relax enough to go to sleep. I also have been getting up lately and reading for about 30-60 minutes in the morning with my coffee before work.

I looked at my totals and they've been pretty consistent:

8 in 2012
unknown in 2011 (I forgot to start a December so they are all under November  )
7 in 2010
8 in 2009
6 in 2008

So far this month I've read about 6 or 7 so I'm ahead for this year! Fun topic!

Well I answered that I don't have time but I want to add a condition to that. That's a big Usually. So I guess I should have answered "I find the time". But I don't find much.

:D I try to read all the time, but with school and work it is kind of difficult to sit and read when I get home late and I just want to relax. When there are days where there is nothing going on and am not busy with anything mainly in the mornings you can find me reading a book.

I make time to read, which is easy since our family is so small. It's like a tranquilizer for me!

I finished the year with 85 total reads, which is way up for me. Last year was only 57 (in 2012). That's because I read so much good stuff! And that's not even counting some of the non-fiction stuff I read this year in between.

December was my best month ever - I read 11 books - and part of that was because I was reading those Kristen Ashley books.

It makes me excited for my 2014 reading! :D

Sounds like most us found the time to read during the holiday season. Can't believe we're so far into January already!
