No, seriously.

For two years I had a job that was 57miles away. That, in our traffic is 1hour to the office...2 (+) hours home. I walked off that job in Jan without a fall back. I couldn't take the commute and the atmosphere any longer. In May I got a long term contract gig with an hour long commute. Far less miles...still an hour b/c of the traffic.

I applied for and interviewed with an in-house counsel law job (no tracking my hours, no quotas to fill). I thought I F***ed the interview. I got the job. It's 6miles from my house. It's 2x the pay range I was seeking. I get home and I feel HUMAN.

Oh, and I did BENT CON this weekend, a Queer Sci-Fi/Fantasy Convention. I'm rejuvenated. They had a romance track.

So expect me to be around again. As per AC/DC..."I'm Back in Black..."

Welcome back James! Life gets a little crazy now and then doesn't it! My visits here have been sporadic this year too after a cross country move, followed by another across town!
Hope to see you around more. :D

Hey, welcome back. It took lots of courage to do what you did by walking out and no back up. Kudos to you on that! You have to be happy with what you are doing in life. Hope this new job does that for you.
I took a new job, too. At 67. Don't they say your life goes in cycles of 7 or something like that? I had been in the other part time job for 7 years and felt I needed a change. Try writing a resume after 45 years!!! And being interviewed.... I didn't do that for the 1st job 7 years ago...they needed someone "right now" and I stepped in. This new one...I am Program Director for the YMCA Senior Center. Still part-time but just what I needed to pick me up and get me out of a slump. Oh, there were only two jobs on my resume...Bell Telephone for 38 years and YMCA for 7... I was really worried about that. I had my son-in-law help me do the resume. Looked pretty good!! At least it got me the job.
So, here's to fresh starts!!!!!!!
