I got this book cheap -- I think I paid 99 cents or maybe I got it for free on Kindle. Anyway, it's free now from Amazon. That was a plus.

However, I wanted to scream at the book. It could have been so much better. I wonder if the author actually read her finished book. The sex scenes (or lack of) drove me crazy. She used the word "erection" and "breast" constantly but not necessarily in a good way. I almost felt it was a bit sleazy and it certainly didn't make me feel this couple was in love. She'd start the love scene and then essentially close the door. She'd have done better to just leave the door shut and get rid of the sex references totally.

The book is about horseracing and, specifically, the Kentucky Derby. So why would the author have the heroine walking around the barns in stilletos LOL. Also if I had horses worth millions of dollars, it's hard to believe I also wouldn't have video surveillance around the fences of my horsefarm. At least in this day and age.

The storyline was good but not developed nearly enough. Too many holes that left me thinking that there was no way that "this or that" would have happened. The story starts with the heroine witnessing a crime and then going to hide out in KY. The crime itself was such that I thought "no way" would this have happened where it happened and why was the villain there in the first place.

Problems that I think a good editor could have addressed. The ideas were there but the dots weren't connected.
