Did you try any new authors in 2013? Who were they? Will you continue reading their books?

My new authors for 2013:

Debria Dier
Tracey Garvis Graves
Maria V. Snyder
Shannon Stacey
Marliss Melton
Katie Porter
Cindy Gerard
Maggie Shayne

I really enjoyed the books I read by Tracey Garvis Graves, Shannon Stacey and Marliss Melton. Actually, none of the new authors I read were terrible. I'd probably read them all again.

I keep telling myself no more new authors! But I never follow through
Looking back, I did read quite a few new-to-me-authors:

Lily Dalton
Jennifer Haymore
Juliana Gray
Kathryn Smith
Nicole Jordan
Grace Callaway
Suzanne Robinson
Sophia Johnson
Joan Johnston
Elaine Coffman
Linda Jones
Kinley MacGregor
Michelle Marcos
Jennifer McQuiston
Lynette Vinet
Jennifer Crusie

Out of all of them, these authors are ones I'll keep reading:

Nicole Jordan
Kathryn Smith
Juliana Gray
Lily Dalton
Grace Callaway

These are the authors that I liked and kept one or more of their books, but most likely won't keep on getting:

Suzanne Robinson
Sophia Johnson
Joan Johnston
Elaine Coffman
Linda Jones
Kinley MacGregor
Jennifer Haymore

First the new authors that I loved and will definitely read again:

Katherine Scott Crawford
Cynthia Eden
Moriah Densley
Phillip Margolin
Brenda Novak

The authors I enjoyed but only "maybe" will read again (I say maybe because the books I read were enjoyable but not out of this world -- maybe 4 stars rather than 5):

Gillian Flynn (I really enjoyed Gone Girl but I'm not sure she'll ever be a fave. She maybe a little too quirky for me.)
Devin Morgan
Shannon Stacey
Melissa Olson
Philip Caputo (I read a book that was not typical of his and enjoyed it. He's a Pulitzer Prize winner but his usual fare would probably put me to sleep. Still there's always the possibility)

Absolutely won't read. Never say never. If they would get new editors, maybe. The books were full of flaws and they drove me nuts.

Nancy Harkness
Kathleen Brooks

Thanks for starting this Robin. I love this kind of post. It makes a great place to see new faces of authors out there for me.

I haven't read Sharon Sala in a long time. She's a hit and miss author for me. Did you like her book?

Wow, you've tried a lot of new authors this year. Most of them I've never read. Jennifer Crusie is a favorite of mine.

I keep hearing good things about Cynthia Eden and Brenda Novak. I'll have to give them a try.

I stopped reading Sharon Sala and then picked her up again with her Rebel Ridge series which I loved. Now I'm looking forward to the 2nd in her Forces of Nature -- loved the first. When she wrote as Dinah McCall, she had a couple that I didn't like at all and I think that's why I stopped. Glad I didn't give her up forever. She's back on auto-read for me.

Linda, Going Once was the first book I ever read by her.

I only started keeping a journal of the books I read in January of this year. My Kindle has afforded me the chance to read authors that I would not have access to if I still only read paperbacks.

Some of the books were pretty bad, but a lot of them were very good and I will list those authors here:

Allison Leotta
Suzann Ledbetter
J.M. Madden
Kristi Loucks
Marti Green
M.K. Turner
Tanya Goodwin
Polly Iyer
Jerrie Alexander
Tamara Larson
Lisa Renee Jones
Kat Attala
Calle J. Brookes
Jennifer Ransom
J.R. Barrett
Lisa Eugene
Leanne Davis
Michelle Gagnon
Martha Powers
R. Gendreau-Webb
Glen Ellen Alderton
Nicole Smith
Lorrie Prescott
Ann Vaughn
Julie Farley
Kevin V. Symmonds
Yvonne Lee Craig
Tracey Smith
T.R. Ragan
Sylvie Kurtz

I would gladly read other books by any of these authors.

Hi All,

Here are 2013 New-to-Me Romance Authors...

The Iron Duke by Meljean Brook (10/10)
[Iron Seas - 2] (A- Hot) -- Steampunk
I've read a couple novellas in this series and will definitely read her again.

The Loving Swords by Marjorie Burrows (HH 77 - 5/91)
(B Subtle+) -- 1877, Montana Territory
Virgin - MOC - Triangle - Abduction
I would read another.

Fatal Consequences by Marie Force (7/11)
[Fatal - 3] (B- Warm) -- CR
I would read another.

If You See Her by Shiloh Walker (2/12)
(C- Warm) -- RS
I won't seek her out but not saying No, either.

Bodie Bride by Isabel Whitfield (HH 140 - 9/92)
(A Warm) -- 1879, California
Frigid - Virgin - Tormented Hero
Since she's only written one other book (far as I know), when I say that I'll read her again I'm not committing to much effort.

New-to-Me Mainstream Thrillers - Suspense - Mystery:

Ghostman by Roger Hobbs (2/13)
[Ghostman - 1] (B+ N/A) -- Debut Author
Atlantic City - Heists
Yes, I'll be on the lookout for his next book.

The Night Caller by John Lutz (10/01)
(B+ Subtle) -- Serial Killer Thriller
I've read (or listened to) several of his books this year. If a book comes my way, I'll probably read it but don't see myself seeking him out.

Runner by Thomas Perry (1/09)
[Jane Whitefield - 6] (B+ Implied Sex)
Fairly sure I'll read more from this author.

Blowback by Valerie Plame and Sarah Lovett (10/13)
[A Vanessa Pierson Novel - 1] (B Subtle)
International Thriller - CIA - Counterterrorism
Unless Vanessa Pierson becomes more likeable in the coming series, I probably won't keep up with her.

Fallen by Karin Slaughter (7/11)
[Will Trent - GBI - 3] (B Implied Sex)
PD - Georgia
Yes, I've read one other KS book already and hope to read more.

Happy New Year!

I'm reading her book Along Came Trouble and I want to read more. I discovered this is actually part of a series called Camelot but it reads well as a stand alone. Of course, I want to read the rest of the series now.

Sharon Sala
Like some of you I read her Rebel Ridge series and was hooked.

Brwneyedbeauty I read Elaine Coffman years ago and she was sooooooooo good at the beginning of her career. Then her books were hot and spicy. They got progressively weaker as the years went by and I haven't read one of hers in years. Her first novel (that I read) was published in 1988, My Enemy, My Love and was quickly followed by If My Love Could Hold You and Escape My Love in 1989 and 1990. All great books. I read one of her Black Douglas books and was so disappointed that I never read another of her books. They were dull compared to her early works. I often thought she must have had some big life change a la Kathleen Woodiwiss because her writing changed so much.

Wow. I only recognize two of those authors. I'm keeping a list of authors to try in the future. I'm going to have to start a second page at this rate.

Love Karin Slaughter's books (both Grant County and Will Trent). Also love Marie Force's Fatal series. It's a favorite for me.

I've read a couple Julie James books and liked them. I've also tried Susan Mallery's Fools Gold series. I think it is OK, but don't know if I like it enough to continue.

Several people on Shelfari have mentioned Ruthie Knox. I have Along Came Trouble and How to Misbehave on my kindle. Will have to try them soon.

I've never heard of Sharon Sala's Rebel Ridge series. Might have to give it a try too.
