This is part of a series (Rebel Ridge) which I didn't know when I started it. I really, really enjoyed it and now I'm looking up the others in the series.

The hero/heroine are both former military with PTSD issues. Quinn picks up Mariah from the hospital to take care of her because she has no family and he lives up in the mountains where it's quiet so she won't get freaked out by sirens, booms and other sounds that might set her off. Quinn has a closeknit family which evidently were featured in previous books. I liked both the h/h, although the heroine has a moment or two of TSTL thinking. I can forgive her because I like her and some of it might be from her insuries.

The villain is truly disgusting individual and since this is a romance with a happy ending, I'm not giving spoilers to say he gets his comeuppance very nicely.

It's set in the Daniel Boone Forest in KY in the middle of the Appalachian Mountain Range which is a particular favorite of mine.

I haven't read anything by Sharon Sala in awhile so this was very enjoyable.

Sharon Sala is still an auto buy for me. So happy that she has done well in EPublishing. She won a big award for this at RT. I would have hated to see her give up when she lost her contract with her publisher. Kudos to for going forward and doing it so well.

It made me laugh when his family that knew he went to pick up an old buddy found out about her.
