I really thought I was done with Eve Duncan but somehow or another she has breathed life back into this series. I think it's that the emphasis is off her and on the assortment of side characters like Caleb, who I think is really sexy; Margaret, the animal whisperer; Jane, who really annoys me at times; Quinn, who always annoys me and I don't know why; even Venable who I would gladly kick in the gonads.

This book brings all these people together when Eve is kidnapped by a lunatic. But wait, there's a cliffhanger at the end so I have to wait until July for the next installment and December for the final. But I will be waiting because it started really strong. For those of you who like to have all the books in a series before you begin, I'm beginning to see the sense in why you do.

Hey, Linda.

I read this one a couple of weeks ago. You liked it a lot more than I did. I'm not much into the paranormal on my reading and this one with the evil Kevin (?) and his worshipping father was over the top.

Also, Joe and Jane making everything about Eve is getting old, they seem so one-dimensional to me. All those threats they make to people who are trying to help them locate her. Really?

RT Review mentions that it is multiracial. I don't recall that at all and the book is long back to the Library. Can you bring me up to speed on which character that is talking about?

So much repetition in the book, the covers are very good however. Thinking that these short trilogies need to be made into one story.

I looked to see if this particular trilogy has a name, didn't find one so made up my own, obviously.

Taking Eve by Iris Johansen (4/13)
[Eve Duncan & Friends - 22]
[Woo-Woo Malarkey Trilogy - 1]
(C N/A)

I'm so glad the Library gets these in hardcover so I can read them for free.

Multi-racial? I have no idea. If anyone's race was mentioned, I missed it. As far as the paranormal aspects -- for me when IJ added some of those elements to the ED books, it breathed new life into it for me. I read all of them but I was really over it for awhile there and wishing she'd find Bonnie and get it over with LOL. Now, other than the fact that I don't particularly like Joe and Eve as people, I like the stories. Eve strikes me as cold and Joe is just so perfect it irks me. Eve Dallas in NR's In Death series makes me feel the same way -- maybe it's just the name for me LOL.

Hi Linda,

Thanks for getting back to me. Sometimes the reviews are helpful and then there are times I wonder if we read the same book. Good to know I'm not the only one that missed the multi-racial bit, if there was one to miss.

I was hoping with the resolution to Bonnie would be the end of the child predator theme. Alas.

Enjoyed the chat, as ever.
