Absolutely. And Scarlett (not very good). And Rhett Butler's People (very very good).

It'll be worth your time. Enjoy it!!

'Gone With The Wind' is my favorite non-romance book. I read it every few years and enjoy it always. Take your time...savor it...you will never forget it when you are finished. By the way, we named our dog after Miss O'Hara .

My sister has read the book and raves about it. She said it is so much better than the movie.

It's always better to read books slowly. (I'm a very slow reader) Then you can savor the good parts.

Enjoy! :D

Yes, and I remember not being able to put the darn thing down. I just brought home my mom's original book, so I will probably read again sometime.

Speaking of this book, will we ever see epic books like this again?? It really was the best of the best.

No, don't think I ever will, the movie was painful enough (think I saw it in my teens and not sure I watched it all anyway).

Not a fan of "epics & angst".

This is probably one of my all time fav books. I have read it a few times. There is alot of history in it as well which the movie didn't cover. It brought history to life.

Enjoy!!

My sister loves the book and has read it many times. I have never managed to make my way through it. I'm not at all put off by long books, however, as soon as it starts talking about the war, I just kind of zone out and lose interest. I may actually give it another try here soon. Maybe it would capture my interest better now that I'm older. I do love the movie.

Oh my gosh - how many times?? The first time I read it was the summer I turned 15. I checked it out of the library. I was totally immersed in the world of Scarlett and Rhett! It is still a favorite of mine and every so often I will pick it up and read it again. I never get tired of it.

This got me thinking about the epic family saga novels of past years. I loved reading them. Some of my favorites were:
Penmarric & Cashelmara by Susan Howatch
North & South/Love & War & The Kent Family Chronicles by John Jakes
The Swan Trilogy by Celeste DeBlasis (who was one of the great romance writers)
I know there were more. It's a shame no one is writing this kind of novel anymore. They were wonderful and some of my all-time favorite reads.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who couldn't get into it
