What new authors did you try in 2012? Are you planning on reading more of their books in the future?

New authors for me in 2012 were:

Roxanne St. Clair - Good romantic suspense

Harlan Coben - Absolutely love his Myron Bolitar series

Laura Griffin - First book was just OK, but I really liked the second book in her Tracers series.

Jennifer Ashley - I've tried a couple of her historical romances and liked them.

Gillian Flynn - I hated the end of the book but I did enjoy her writing style.

Darynda Jones - Her books are fun.

Michael Connelly - Read the first book in his Harry Bosch series and will definitely be reading more.

Larissa Ione - Read the first book in the Demonica series. Took me a little while to get into it, but I loved it.

Looking back, I've tried quite a few new authors this past year:

Kaitlin O'Riley- Historical

Patricia Pellicane-Historical

Cecilia Grant-Historical

Valerie Bowman-Historical

Manda Collins-Historical

Heather Snow-Historical

Pamela Clare-Contemporary

Michelle Marcos-Historical

Connie Mason-Historical

Eileen Dreyer-Historical

Sally MacKenzie-Historical

Deborah Raleigh-Historical

Madeline Hunter-Historical

Karen Ranney-Historical

Elizabeth Essex-Historical

Out of all those, only six are keepers for me: Manda Collins, Heather Snow, Patricia Pellicane, Pamela Clare, Valerie Bowman and Kaitlin O'Riley.

Kristen Ashley (again thanks Erika!)

but as of today I have just read one of the first "I can't put down books" I have had in AGES and that is

Undeniable by Madeline Sheehan  PS: wow what an intense relationship these two have...

I didn't know how I'd go with a younger female and older (20yrs) male.

But it's a bikie story and it works for me, and it's raw.... I did have moments of she's too young and that's seems wrong, BUT, but things happen over years so wasn't as bad as I thought it could be.... but again I've been on the couch ALL day reading and again that hasn't happened in an age, and considering my PMS status (were I struggle to hold attention to new books), it's a freaking HUGE miracle.

I am sure I have tried other newbies this year but nothing as outstanding as Kristen Ashley, now maybe Madeline Sheehan, but I've only read this one book, so I hold my opinion on her for now....

New authors for me:

David Baldacci -- I finally got around to reading Absolute Power! Cross that off my resolution list from forever.

Deborah Harkness -- The Discovery of Witches and Shadow of Night are two of my faves and I eagerly look forward to the next installment.

Lori Wilde -- light reading but so good.

Bill Bryson (non-fiction and I enjoyed his book on the Appalachian trail)

Sylvia Day -- I didn't like her books as much as 50 shades.

E. L. James (50 Shades trilogy was great

Suzanne Collins (Hunger Games Trilogy)

Tina St. John -- this is actually Lara Adrian but I'd never read her early books so I'm counting them here.

I will probably read these authors again.

I'm so glad you like him. He's my absolute favorite in the mystery/thriller category. His endings almost always have me surprised. He's king of the story twists!

I know. I love the twists in his mysteries. I never figure them out. Also love his humor.

I guess I can add another author to my list. I just finished my first Susan Mallery book and enjoyed it. Will be looking for more of her books.

Since getting my kindle I've had the chance to try some new authors via their free books. The ones I like so far are CJ Snyder, Kristen James, Kat Attalla.

I am having trouble finding my journal for 2012 showing who I read new...but thinking back...maybe Lara Adrian and EL James? I am also reading Lee Child right now (Jack Reacher series) and I like them all enough to read them again going forward.
