This is the first Eve Duncan books since Bonnie's remains were found so I wasn't sure what to expect. The plot briefly starts with Sandra, Eve's mother, asking Joe to help her find a friend, Beth Avery, who has escaped from a mental hospital. Who she is and who's after her and why make for the story.

The story kept me reading and I read it pretty fast which is a sure indication that I'm enjoying a book, particularly the week before Thanksgiving when I have a million things I have to do. There were instances when I wanted to smack Eve for being TSTL which I didn't like but other than that, it was a great read. I would have loved an epilogue but didn't get one. I suspect Beth will show up in future books by IJ. One thing I noted -- IJ looks like she's trying to up the sensuality between Joe and Eve. Too late by my way of thinking. I've never been a Joe fan, although the book Quinn improved my thinking. Both seem kind of like cold fish to me.
