Shannon on Amazon's Romance message board is looking for the following book:

"I am looking for another book I read back in the mid 90's. I remember very little. I believe it begins in Russia...The heroine marries the hero in a rushed ceremony he was not happy with. He ignores her fully. She starts attending balls in what at the time were provocative dresses. I remember that the front of one dress went up to her neck but when she turned around her back was bare. Another had an opening in the fron that stetched down to her belly button. The hero is struck by her beauty and becomes jealous seeing how glamorous she has become. He stops seeing his mistress or ex-fiance and falls madly inlove with the heroine. I know its not alot to go on. The only details I am sure on are the beautiful, one of a kind dress she wears. Help!"

It sounds good. I would really like this to be found.

I hope you can help.

I think Iris Johansen had one set in Russia. I read it years ago, but don't remember a whole lot about it, just that diamonds played a huge part in the book. It was called The Beloved Scoundrel.

I think Susan Johnson did some books with Russian scenes in it.

I agree with the Iris Johansen part, but I really think that the books are two of her entries in the Loveswept Delaney series: The Untamed Years. The first is Wild Silver, from May 1988; the second is Satin Ice from Nov 1988. The heroine is Silver Delaney, half-Apache & half-white. The hero is a Russian nobleman. The second book has the scenes in Russia. A major discrepancy is that none of the action in either book takes place in England.

Note: I also posted this on All About Romance.

This was finally SOLVED.

The Copeland Bride by Justine Cole aka SEP from 1983

All London knew her as "Her Highness", the fiery temptress who robbed men of their gold.

But it was proud, untouched Noelle Dorian who was cruelly abducted by Quinn Copeland, the rugged American shipping heir, and, in one brutal act of passion, forced to take his family name.

Transformed by Copeland wealth, abandoned by Quinn, Noelle's rare beauty blossomed in London society. But beneath her soft grace burned a vow of vengeance and a passion for the man whose jet-black eyes and powerful touch she would never forget...

For Quinn would return-to carry her off to the bold shores of the New World. Together they were destined to carve a new life in the harsh wilderness, bound by a love as glorious, as savage, as their pride.

From Soho pickpocket to society belle, from London to the shores of the New World, hers was a game of passion and chance.

The OP said: " Shannon Muniz says:
Jenny this is it!!! Pages 280 and 289 confirmed it for me. The descriptions of the dresses she wore were what stood out in mind the most from this book. I have to admit that until I reached page 280, I kept thinking that this was not the book I was looking for. Through the years I think I have read so many books that other than the "provacative dress" and "rushed marriage"; I wasn't sure about any other details of this book. Thank you to you and Mermarie!!! With so little to go on, I did not think this book would be found :) Thank you, thank you, thank you!
